In Fly Fisherman, I talk with the Wyoming Trout Unlimited team about their Adopt-A-Trout program.  I was able to spend some time in a Big Piney, Wyoming classroom during a cold winter day with third and fourth graders as they participated in the program, and was encouraged to see the enthusiasm of the kids.  Something about taking life down to its most basic is a very good thing.

When The Big Sky Journal asked me to spend a day with Smoot Honey north of Great Falls, Montana, I wasn’t sure what to expect.  Fields of bee boxes?  A big, industrial warehouse?  A hut?  It ended up being a fantastic day in the field, in the warehouse and in the processing room with the good folks at Smoot.

Nothing makes a photographer’s day more than having the co-owner of the business say, “Yeah, just go where you need to.  Open doors, climb around, get wherever.”  It’s a good change of pace from limited movement during a shoot.1378602_10151867357744827_724873043_n
