Frigid temperatures (think raw temperature of -15 and wind chill in the -30s) found me trekking over to the Big Hole Valley yesterday. Incredibly, the weather was mostly clear and provided some decent, albeit bitterly cold photo opportunities.
Stopped in Dillon mid-morning to interview two Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks gentlemen for an article I am working on. The rest of the day was spent between the small towns of Wisdom and Jackson at the ranch of Harold Peterson. Harold is a third generation Montanan and an excellent example of a rare breed – the hard-core, feed-by-hand Montana rancher. We spent a lovely afternoon talking about conservation projects on his land and the history of the ranch.
More pictures to come soon – the batching and processing have only just begun.
