Angled World

by Editor on December 22, 2009

I took advantage of the “first day of winter” yesterday and went for a half-day hike up in the Gallatin Range.  The sky was so deep a blue as I climbed that it almost appeared to have a purple tinge to it, and the snow was crusty and rough.

This picture was taken on the way up.  I scrambled up one side of the trail and tilted way back to give the image its “round” quality.  I like how the trees and the cliffs in the background help create a frame for the image.  The light was tough in the little canyon, but the rich blue sky and the light on the cliffs draws the eye out of the shadow and into the color.
