The jury is still out as to which horse and rider combinations will be competing in the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky this fall. A long list of fifteen combinations was released in early March; of these fifteen, only four will be chosen to represent the United States in the coming competition.
Beezie Madden and her mount Danny Boy, who I had the pleasure of observing closely last fall at the Spruce Meadows Masters Tournament in Calgary, are tied for sixth place on the long list. Based out of Cazenovia, New York, Mrs. Madden made show jumping history when she became the first woman to reach the one million dollar in show jumping earnings. In 2004, she also was the first American rider to make the Top Three in the Show Jumping World Ranking List.
Beezie Madden continues to make show jumping history and we eagerly await her future feats.
Best of luck to all of the riders planning to converge upon Lexington this fall. The World Equestrian Games begin September 25 and run through October 10 – and it’s sure to be an action packed sixteen days!
