Took the drive up to Port Townsend several days ago and caught the little boat town on a rather blustery, grey day.
I love those days. Nothing better for shooting images.
This is definitely a town I will come back to visit – lots of interesting photography possibilities here. Great buildings, good water and a plethora of little wooden boats.
There is an old military base on the north end of town, filled with old buildings, bunkers and all manner of cool stuff. Some of you may recognize the bunker below from the movie “An Officer and a Gentleman.” I can’t wait to shoot a commercial or portraiture session in these old buildings…

Port Townsend is one of my favorite places to visit when I’m in the PNW. There is also a memorial there at the American Legion hall for Marvin G. Shields; he’s a Medal of Honor recipient who is actually buried in near bye in Gardiner.
Ron, this was my first visit to the town and I’m very much looking forward to making it back. What an incredible little town! I’ll look for the memorial… so much in that town to photograph! Hoping to take a tent out and have a camping – photography session soon.
Jess, keep up the great work. I look forward to seeing more here and on Chi Wulff.
Hey Ron,
Thanks so much. I’ve been sucked back into the real world in a big way and am looking forward to getting my priorities straight once more and another series on Chi Wulff!
Take care!
Jess
