Evening caddis hatch on the Missouri.

July continues to bring more heat, low water and challenging conditions.  People are getting edgy, tired and snappy.

So I was very grateful to have a few mornings and evenings off from the shop to spend with Chi Wulff Mark and Swing the Fly Editor Zack Williams as they were on the Missouri working on a new film project.  We worked classic photographer’s hours – magic light – from 0500 to 1000h and then from 1900 to 2300h.

Who needs sleep, anyway?

Read the full report with more photos in the Dispatches post on Chi Wulff this morning.

In other news, The Big Sky Weekly ran a feature on Montana Shakespeare in the Parks that both I wrote and photographed.  Check it out here on page 42.

I’m busy planning work for after my time on the Missouri.  It’s a big world out there and I have lots of projects in the works.  Stay tuned!

All of the pictures are good but that caddis pic is amazing.

Thanks! I’m pretty pleased with it – planning a limited edition poster run after several requests. It’s worth waiting hours for that magic light!

Can definitely see that pic adorning fly tying rooms and various shops…
