source Still processing through pictures from Sunday’s trip to Yellowstone. Bison always seem hard to photograph well to me – they are huge, unique creatures but it seems they just don’t do that much. They lie down and bask in the sun. They happily graze. They stroll down the middle of the Park roadways. It’s always an unspoken challenge among some photography friends and myself to get an interesting, compelling image of a big shaggy.

After a long winter of foraging, you know the sweet green grass has to be a delicacy to these guys. He has some mud caked on his coat, no doubt left over from a good roll in the mud followed by a nap in the sun.
