Summer Light

(Apologies for the lack of a post Monday morning – my server was being moody and I had to rush off to the “day job” before things were settled.)

Dawn yesterday was the first moment I realized we are finally getting some “summer light” back.  During our limited hours of sunlight during the winter the light tends to be rather flat and, frankly, uninspiring.  What a joy to see some real light with some depth come back into play!

This picture is from a late afternoon / evening on the Upper Gallatin River.  The light was filtered just right through the canyon and a thin deck of clouds.  Getting low on my belly enhanced the reflection and the resulting colors were amazing.  Often the beauty of nature is far better than anything we ourselves could come up with…
