Texas Renaissance Festival

This past Sunday I made the trek over to Houston for the “Pirate Adventure” of the 36th annual Texas Renaissance Festival.  The festival, hailed as the largest Renaissance-themed event in the United States, was held near Plantersville, Texas.  The weather – as seems to be per Texas rules – proved to be sunny, hot, and humid.

https://modaypadel.com/91trwgdr2 The Renaissance Festival offers more than 1,000 wandering performers, more than 200 performances daily, and over 350 period artisan and craft shops.  The festival is stretched out over 35 acres and, I found, offers a little something for everyone.  There are many kid-friendly shows (The Ded Bob Sho was wildly popular with the kiddie audience, although I confess to enjoying it myself!) as well as adult-only shows such as Sound & Fury, a comedy act that broke most of the rules of classical acting while bringing to mind the style of Shakespeare (whom they lovingly refer to as “Fakespeare”.)

I’ve had a bit of experience working with the world of Shakespeare and these guys were pretty damn funny.

https://www.chat-quiberon.com/2024/01/18/kmv7wxcuada There was jousting.  There was an archery range.  Food and drink from all across the “old world”.  People wandering about in strange and creative costumes.  Actors hassling me on the streets of the village – refreshing to be harangued by someone who was doing it in jest for once.

https://sieterevueltas.net/ps34s8hk I am still uploading and working on images from the weekend.  Unfortunately that pesky non-photo work interferes with camera hours… between working a full schedule at a “day job” and trying to pen an article that simply hasn’t been wanting to come things have been… distracting.  The best news of the week is that yesterday afternoon I sat myself down and wrote what will be the basis for the article.  I am learning to function on less and less sleep in order to get the photo work done – so why is I feel so refreshed when I pick up the camera bag?

https://fireheartmusic.com/v7gryoz8 Hi Elisabeth, just sent you an email. Thanks for your query, but I’ll be away from Texas for much of this year. Have a lovely wedding! Cheers.
