Got in late last night from staffing the North Face Speaker Series with Cory Richards at the Zachary Scott Theatre in downtown Austin. Austinites, if you missed this show it’s very much on you.
Cory gave a gripping personal account of his start into both photography and climbing, leading into his Gasherbrum II Winter expedition. Quality photography and a compelling speaker make for a good evening.
Climbing on Sunday was lovely… we had a group of about eight and spent three hours bouldering and talking. Like many high-level athletes I’ve met, Cory was very down to earth and seems like a great guy. In every industry, it seems, once you are dealing with people in the top echelon, business gets a bit easier. More intense, but easier.
At any rate – good memories, cool people, and another day climbing. The secret to making 18-hour workdays livable.
