Bunking Up on the Missouri

by Fire Girl Jess on March 14, 2013

cot_roomI made it into Cascade yesterday and am slowly settling into what will be home for the coming eight months.

Housing is… basic.  Let’s just say it took six hours of scrubbing before I would unpack anything.  And I’m really not that picky.

Guests are more than welcome, provided you can fit into the two-and-a-half foot square shower and BYOB (bring your own bed).  I’m camped out on an outfitter cot.

But I finally have an internet connection and can catch up on work.  Somehow if I’m away for too long, it piles up far too quickly.

Start tomorrow morning at Headhunters; I’m excited about it.  Ready to leap into the season.

Wow, haven’t heard of “Cascade” in years! I spent about 15 years of my childhood growing up just north of there in Great Falls. We would always pass through on our way down to Craig, Holter Lake, etc. and stopping occasionally. I don’t remember much of it, it’s been so long. Are you doing photography work for Headhunters or are you guiding/working in the shop? Whatever you do enjoy the Mizz, she is a great lady surrounded by history.

Oh yeah, make sure you get away to some of the rodeos in the small towns once the season starts up, lots of things to capture through your lens. Make sure you check out the Belt(20 mile S/SE of Great Falls) Rodeo. It was great place as a kid and I’m sure it’s just as fun as an adult.

Can’t wait to see more of your pictures of Big Sky Country, miss that place.

They probably aren’t used to that many females visiting. You know how guys are. We’ll live in garbage until it starts moving on its own. Then we decide it is time to clean up.

Devin, many thanks! I’m just a shop rat for the HH crew, and will be working on several photo projects of my own. Very excited to spend the season with this gang!

Thanks for the tip on the rodeos – I’ve passed a few rodeo grounds that already have the imagination turning. Always love to shoot a good rodeo, and the small town ones are the best!

Feather Chucker, who knows in these apts? I’m finding all kinds of weird stuff. The place has cleaned up nicely, though (after a lot of friggin’ scrubbing) and will work just fine for the season. Adaptability is key…
