I have surprised myself by how much I enjoy shooting photographs of people. Not portraits, mind you, but pictures of people out doing things, of working and playing and living their lives. While I by no means view myself as a portrait photographer, sometimes it’s nice to get off the river or the mountain and have a little change of pace.
And sometimes that change of pace comes when you are least expecting it. I was in Calgary this fall to cover an equestrian tournament when I was able to photograph my first runway fashion show. An entirely different world was opened up and it has forced me to look at my photography from an entirely new angle.
And that’s never a bad thing.
