Ice Trenches of the Gallatin

by Editor on November 18, 2009

Another image from the run up the Gallatin two days ago.  I love ice on mountain rivers – it never looks the same twice.  No doubt these ice patterns have already morphed into something completely new.  The colors are a mix of the blues and greens of the water, the reds and browns of the river rocks lying underneath, and the white of the snow.

Someone said this ice run looked like an aerial view of plateaus and valleys.  Who knows what it looks like to the fish…?
