Look Around

by Fire Girl Jess on September 19, 2011

Look around.  It’s often the little, unexpected things we take for granted that make the best images.

This image, taken this past summer on the Texas coast, was the simple result of looking down.  I had jumped out of the truck to quickly photograph some windsurfers who were catching some rather impressive air in the measly Texas surf.  At some point during the shoot I kicked off my flip flops.  Afterwards, I turned to go and looked down.

Picture.

Manual focus provided for a rather selective range and the softness of the sand behind the flip flops.  I love the conglomeration of tracks and prints in the sand; the beach always seems to have so many stories to tell.

So look around.  It’s rare – and incredible – that we see a “once in a lifetime” image opportunity.  Often, though, some of the best image opportunities may literally be at your feet.
