Joining the ShelterBox Ambassador Team

by Fire Girl Jess on September 21, 2011

ShelterBox camp in the imaginary country of "Fredonia". Ambassador Field Training, Spring 2011, Mason, Texas.

It’s official this morning – I’ve joined the Texas ShelterBox Ambassador team!  I’ll be joining a team of twelve others in the state – incredible men and women, many of whom I met this spring at the Ambassador Field Training session held here in Texas.

We’re asked to “be the face of ShelterBox in our communities” –  to make both groups and individuals aware of the ShelterBox mission.  Basically growing public awareness through presentations and speaking arrangements with groups in the area.  Central Texas readers -especially if I’ve already spoken to you about photography or outdoor sport –  I’d love to come speak to your group!  The fall schedule is filling up, so please don’t hesitate to shoot me an email.

I’m very excited about this step – hopefully the first step in the process of working to be a ShelterBox Response Team member that deploys into the field.  There is some deep irony that public speaking – such an anathema as a child, is becoming such a large part of my life.

Bring it on – I look forward to it!
