More Montana Shakespeare in the Parks… and a Road Trip!

by Editor on June 28, 2010

Montana Shakespeare in the Parks actors Sam Ashdown and Courtney Jones wait out a rain shower in the group's trailer, "the Whale."

It was a pleasure to spend three of the last four nights photographing the Montana Shakespeare in the Parks 2010 troupe – both behind the scenes and on the stage.  Let me assure you that these guys and gals are as alive, energetic, and entertaining in person as they are in character.  I am in the midst of an 800-image photo edit – look for more images to be posted later this week.

The Big Sky Journal, Montana’s premier “glossy” magazine has asked for a feature photo essay on the group for their Fall 2010 Arts issue.  Don’t miss it!  This group has an amazing mission – to bring the language of Shakespeare to small towns across Montana, North Dakota, and Wyoming.  People who otherwise would likely never see the Bard’s works in live theatre have the chance to see well trained, fantastic actors and actresses bring these works to life.

On a side note, I am in the midst of a cross-country move to south Texas.  (Currently sitting on the floor surrounded by external hard drives and boxes!) Never fear, business will continue as usual, although blog posts may be a little intermittent for a few days this week.  Several exciting projects are hot on the burner and necessitate a move south for a year or two…

One thing can be certain – there will be some interesting photographs coming your way soon!
