Day Two of SXSW – In Which We Run

watch Madeline Follin of the Cults during a performance at SXSW 2011.

go to site Day two of SXSW was, well, full of adventure.  First assignment was The Cults at Urban Outfitters.  The crowd was quite… different.  One man I talked to made the comment that he had seen nicer-looking crowds in third world nations.

I've Had Enough March 19, 2011 at 12:22

https://someawesomeminecraft.com/2024/05/13/yin9pgtb I’m a developer for a small tech company and have come to my last SXSW. My team happens to be all female and we’ve never had a worse experience at a conference than this year’s meeting. Groping, pissing, drunk and dirty men wandering all over the place at the music venues with crowd management that could have been done better by a Somali pirate. After a close call with a group of young ‘ethnic’ men one night we never went anywhere after dark unless we were all together.

This was my first SXSW and will likely be my last. I’ve worked with all kinds of men in the past and have never, ever had such a bad experience. And I wholeheartedly agree that crowd management was atrocious… I had to sprint over a block to find a cop. Never have I ever seen such a poorly-managed event from a safety perspective. I made it back to my car on an adrenaline high and minus half a can of self-defense spray.

Glad your team made it out of there all right! I’d love to do some work for you and will look forward to hearing from you.

Best,

Jess
